CMS Releases Draft OASIS-D Guidance; Fazzi Releases OASIS-D Webinar Series

It’s finally here! Last week CMS published the draft 335 page OASIS-D guidance manual and the changes are as big as expected. Agencies will need to train their staff now to be prepared for January 1, 2019. We’re pleased to announce that registration is now open for our three-part OASIS-D Readiness Webinar Series, “Out With the Old; In With the New”, covering everything you need to know to become OASIS-D ready. The three-part webinar series includes:

Part 1: OASIS-D the Basics
October 17 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. EDT

In this first session, we begin to build a foundation for OASIS-D with these topics; items removed or revised and their implications, risk adjustment and the calculation of outcomes in OASIS-D, comparison of data between home health care and other post-acute care settings: long-term care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and inpatient rehabilitation facilities, implications of new OASIS-D items, OASIS Q&As and OASIS-D, GG0100 Prior Functioning: every day activities, GG0110 Prior Device Use.

Part 2: Assessing Self-Care Abilities and Reporting of Falls
October 31 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM EDT

In Part 2, we explain and discuss the new OASIS-D Items, including; GG0130 Self: eating, oral hygiene, toileting hygiene, shower/bathe self, upper body dressing, lower body dressing, putting on/taking off footwear, J1800 Any Falls Since SOC/ROC, J1900 Number of Falls Since SOC/ROC.

Part 3: Assessing Mobility
November 14 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM EDT

Lastly, in Part 3, we’ll go in depth into the new OASIS-D mobility items, including; GG0170 Mobility: rolling left and right, sit to lying, lying to sitting on side of bed, sit to stand, chair/bed-to-chair transfer, toilet transfer, car transfer, walk 10 feet, walk 50 feet with two turns, walk 150 feet, walking 10 feet on uneven surfaces, one step (curb), four steps, twelve steps, picking up object, does patient use wheelchair/scooter, wheel 50 feet with two turns/type of wheelchair or scooter, wheel 150 feet/type of wheelchair or scooter.
